Life in the City

Posted by jimmy p

Well, I don’t know how many of you have heard, but I shattered my leg and ankle on Labor Day. It’s been a boring recovery process, but I was greatful enough to have good friends and family help me a lot along the way so far. Sitting around the house is boring as hell and I can’t stand watching TV, browsing the net or playing video games anymore. I have an electric guitar, but my effed up fingers have been broken and jammed so many times playing sports that I can hardly play the guitar. Life in the City has been dull for many, due to the lack of my presence. I qualifeid for one promotion and was layed up for another shot at a different promotion. So that’s my take on work. My question to everyone is; WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! I hardly hear from anyone anymore, and the same probably can be said about me. I’m not good with listening to voice mails if you haven’t noticed. But damn, I haven’t drank more than 6 beers in over a months time. Tolerance is going way down so I guess I’ll be a cheap drunk when I can walk again, which will be in about2 weeks if all goes well. Now, on a happier, lighter note. THE TIGERS ARE GOING TO THE ALCS!!! And after that they are going to the World Series. It’s been a great year if you are a Detroit sports fan, minus the Lions of course. And an even better year if you are a Michigan fan on top of that. I’m not going to rub anything in to anyone, so don’t worry. This fall so far is all about the Tigers anyways, and Tim even came over to watch the game! Tim watching sports!! What’s this world coming to? Well, I’m going to let you all go with this, Go Tigers, Go Blue…. and remember, Life in the City ain’t pretty.

Well, I know all of you have been holding your bladders in anticipation of another Life in the City update, well here ya go… I’ll break for a second and let ya pee….. Better? Good. Well, it hasn’t snowed in a while, if ya havent noticed. My job is based around what the weather does so I have hardly anything to do when there is no snow out there. So to say the least, I have been bored… I mean busy, yeah thats it. Anyways, I found out that I am probably going to get laid off in the summer right around July or so, and if that happens I already have a plan in the works. I am going to sit around and collect unemployment until my lease runs out on my apartment, then i am goingto move BACK to Arizona. Well, I gotta go but don’t be afraid to CALL ME sometime even though I am working 3rd shift, I do try to respond to all calls in the order they were recieved, and if I don’t I apologize and will talk to you at my earliest convenience. And remember, Life in the City ain’t pretty.

HEY HEY!! It’s another fast paced edition of Life in the City. Well, not so fast paced I guess, any of you people who know what I do can understand nothing is fast paced in the city… unless its plowing. Speaking of which, LET IT FUCKING SNOW!!! This is pissing me off, slow ass winter so far. Anyways, Wednesday night and Thursday morning, some of you may have been cursing out the plow trucks… or lack there of, but hey, its hard to clean up when 4 inches falls in 3 hours, salt just doesnt work that well, turns it to slush. It was still a blast, goin 45 down Leonard following another plow truck and can only see one flashing light through a huge white cloud of snow, and out gutter man is about 3 miles behind, filling his pants the entire time, scared of going 45… what a pussy. Anyways, when ya see the white stuff fallin, think of me. And the dollar signs I be makin on OT. Just remember, Life in the City ain’t pretty.

Here we go again on another exciting ride of thrills and chills I like to call, Life in the City…

Well, life in the city as we know it kind of sucks right now. I still am not getting paid shit and I also am not getting paid for holidays either… sucks ass. I also am working with out Forestry department right now, which is interesting in itself. As much as I can figure, the point of this department is to chip brush and cut stuff with saws… and also to see how much coffee can be consumed in one day at various different restaruants. Sorry this is so damn short but I gotta run, so happy holidays and remember, life in the city aint pretty.

Well, I guess sticking with the new theme of top 10 lists, thanks alot Stress, here come the top 10 reasons to work at the city… or at least be employed by them.

10. Cops ignore how fast you drive as long as the truck is yellow and has a bloody egg emblem on the side (if you dont know what I am referring to, look at the stupid logo real hard, you’ll get it)

9. Snow storms were once fun when you were a kid, well guess what, they are again.

8. Ebonics is easy to learn, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. Equal Oppurtunity works both ways you know.

7. If you are hung over, just sleep in the truck. Why not get paid for something you paid for the other night?

6. Speaking of being hung over… why not just drink in the truck?

5. Got any personal business to take care of? Go ahead, the gas don’t cost nothin’.

4. You can easily do favors for those who live in the city limits… for beer of course.

3. Free parking… ANYWHERE!!

2. People don’t look at you funny when you pick up roadkill.

1. People also don’t look at you funny when you throw the roadkill at another city truck.

Well, there ya are, a cheap rip off of the Stress’ genius as of late… hope ya enjoyed and remember, Life in the City, ain’t pretty.

Well kiddies hold on to your butts cuz here comes another exciting ride on the City bus… Can a city bus ride actually be exciting? Anyways… I am back in GR and I am loving it, for the moment anyways. I found out that beer is cheaper in GR than in Flagstaff, and I can drink alot more beer in GR than I ever could before (except when I was under 21, but that doesnt count) I just want to tell everyone thank you for everything y’all hjave done for me since I’ve been back… and if I havent seen you since I’ve been back, fuck you… I don’t want to see you. I also got a really nice attitude from working in the altitude, so if you are offended by my phone ringer playing Low Rider, or tequila, or the Mexican hat dance, kiss my white ass. On that note, I need a beer and the next time I get back on here I will definately have something funny and interesting to say.

..and remember, Life in the City, ain’t pretty.

Here’s to the good life or so they say
All those parties and games that all those people play
They tell me this is the place to be
All these beautiful people and nothin’ to see

Sometimes I feel like something is gone here
Something is wrong here, I don’t belong here
Sometimes I feel like a stranger in town
And I’ve lost what I found, it’ll all turn around

On the other side of a coin
There’s a face there’s a memory somewhere that I can’t erase
And there’s a place that I find someday
But sometimes I feel like it’s slippin’ away

Sometimes I feel like something is gone here
Something is wrong here, I don’t belong here
Sometimes I feel like a stranger in town
And I’ve lost what I found, it’ll all turn around

Some things are lost some left behind
Some things are better left for someone else to find
Maybe in time I can finally see
I just wonder, wonder if you think about me

Sometimes I feel like something is gone here
Something is wrong here, I don’t belong here
Sometimes I feel like a stranger in town
And I’ve lost what I found, it’ll all turn around

and remember, Life in the City ain’t pretty

Alright y’all, time to settle down and read a new update of Life in the City…. Here goes; This place is driving me nuts. The people are nice and snobby, the pay is low and the cost of living is high. The view is extrordinary, but I still think you have to pay to see out of your window. I went to the casino the other night and won a few dollars… I was just happy to have a State Tax refund check come through, so I thought taking $100 wouldnt be too bad to show myself a good time. Well, I don’t really feel like bitching about work right now, nor do I have any funny stories for this episode. All I guess I have to say is that I’m attempting to move back home and hope to see all y’all soon….. and remember, Life in the City ain’t pretty.
